Mary Rose Matcha green tea is characterised by its light green colour, refined, slightly tart taste and pleasant aroma. It is a green tea, ground into a fine powder. It is made according to a method developed hundreds of years ago, which involves covering the tea bushes from the sun's rays with special mats. This slows down the growth of the bushes. Their leaves turn pale green and begin to produce amino acids, which contribute to the tea's sweeter taste and more intense aroma. After harvesting, the leaves are dried and ground into a fine powder. Matcha originally originated in China, but was particularly appreciated by the Japanese, becoming an integral part of their traditions and culture. The powdered green tea is used in a ceremony called cha-no-yu, which is performed according to strict rules. According to tradition, special tools are used to prepare it: a bowl (chawan) and a bamboo whisk (chasen). Powdered matcha green tea also works well as an ingredient in dishes and desserts, colouring food bright green and adding a pleasant tea-like taste and aroma.
