Take care of your vision!
Vision is one of the most important human senses. Every day our eyes are exposed to the range of negative external factors - too short sleeping time, exposure to blue light emitted by the screens, UV radiation. All of them weakens the sight organs and may disrupt its function. World Sight Day is a great occasion to find out what vitamins and minerals are important for proper vision.
Yerba mate – the content of vitamins beneficial for proper vision
It has long been known that yerba mate is a rich source of vitamins and minerals - this is one of the main reasons for its advantage over coffee, which flushes these substances out of the organism. However, it turns out that it also contains substances that have a positive effect on the functioning of the eyes. Importantly, yerba mate contains vitamin A, often called the vitamin of youth. Its task is to neutralize free radicals, favouring the renewal of the epithelial tissue of the eye and maintaining the proper structure and function of this organ. Vitamin E, also present in the chemical composition of yerba mate, has a similar effect. Its purpose is to prevent the cells that make up the tissues of the eyeballs from dying and prolong the action of vitamin A.
It is worth mentioning that yerba mate contains also the B vitamins. Their task is to support the operation of the optic nerve and supply the eyeball with nutrients. Their deficiency may result in lacrimation and photosensitivity. Yerba mate also contains minerals, among which zinc and selenium are the most beneficial. Both protect the eyes from oxidative stress, which translates into not only correct but also comfortable vision. Vitamin C, in turn, regulates the production of tear fluid, which protects the eyeball from external factors.
Although yerba mate is rich in vitamins and minerals, it can not replace pharmacological therapy - it may be treated, however, as a dietary supplement. If you experience any problems with your eyesight or notice that your it has started to deteriorate, be sure to contact a specialist!
